I was watching the Today show the other day and I heard on the news that the United States is in the middle of negotiations with Iraq for oil. Some say it will lower and cut the gas prices in America. I sure hope so because we are really in need for lowering gas prices. There was a time when all I needed was 25-30 bucks to fill up my vehicle and now I am paying close to 50 bucks. From what I hear people in Saudi Arabia are paying something like 18-50 cents a gallon for gas. It is killing me to think all of my hard earned money that I am making by driving to work is being spent on gas. I do not care what the United States does, but I hope these negotiations end soon so we can lower the gas prices and things can get to where they used to be.

Did you get to hear when these negotiations will be done? That suprises me that we are negotiating for oil with a country we are at war with. Wouldn’t they want to keep our oil prices high? I am not very well informed on the oil crisis, but I do hope the prices go down!

Did you get to hear when these negotiations will be done? I find it strange that we are having negotiations with a country we are at war with. Wouldn’t they want our oil prices to stay up? I guess the oil prices might have nothing to do with the war, but I do hope they go down!

I think the negotiations will help relieve some of the prices of gas, but I feel like there is so much more than that going on. In some countries, federal taxes that support medical insurance and other things are included in their gas prices. I also don’t think that oil negotiations are going to help the war in Iraq which unfortunately will just cause more problems with the war and oil prices. If negotiations are made, it is one more thing that can cause us more harm and loss. Only time will tell.

Many Americans have strong reason to believe that the true reason for our invasion into Iraq was for the oil that was there. I am sure that we will be able to have more control over oil in Iraq after the war than we ever did before. The importance of keeping the cost of gasoline down in this country is vital to our economy. The intricate and vast highway system is widely used by companies to transport their goods through trucks. Obviously if gas goes up all other prices will as well to cover those costs. In addition, GM just shut down several plants that produced SUV’s and laid of several thousand workers. The gas prices are reflective of the state of our economy so I am glad to hear the possibility of negotiating for gas where our influence is more prominent. Good to hear.

I highly doubt that gas prices will ever be what they were before the war started. Hopefully it can go back down with negotiations and whatever else needs to be done.
