I was reading the CNN website to get some news from Iraq the other day and found some pretty good information in the war front. The pentagon reported to congress that the violence in Iraq has gone down since the surge of troops came this past year. Even though there is still a threat by the Jihadists that are loyal the Al Qaeda there has been a huge decrease in threat and are still capable of making a big attack against American troops. This troop surge is brought to push out the Al Qaeda insurgents. By this troop surge the safety in Iraq has brought a lot of time for Iraqi political leaders to set up stability within the country.
To me this is great news to show that the Iraq war is finally looking up. Of course no one wants war, especially not me. The death toll in Iraq has gone down from eighty percent to forty percent. I feel that if the troop surge has brought more safety to the American troops fighting over there then so be it. I would like to hear what others think about this news and if there is another solution that you would think would work in Iraq.

YAY MORE POSITIVE NEWS ABOUT IRAQ! I read today that they also found 15 of 18 Iraq benchmarks which shows the measurable progress made in Iraq found in recent months! This shows potential and optimism since operations over there are slowly progressing after living under a rogue regime.

That’s good news to me. It is nice to know there’s positive stuff in the media about Iraq maybe people will stop being so negative about the war now….doubtful but I wish. But I really think this is great news because a lot of people were saying we need to pull the troops out now well it just shows the surge of troops actually helped and that pulling out troops probably would have caused more deaths. So yes there are more troops in Iraq but there are less deaths and that’s important for people to take notice of.

I agree with you, it is great to hear something positive about Iraq when it is such an awful situation. I truly feel that the longer we can keep troops in there to keep peace then that gives their political leaders and our political leaders more time to settle their differences.

I hope this good news keeps coming when the new president takes charge. I’m hoping this is one of many steps forward so that we can calm the heightened anxiety and threat in the Middle East. It will be very helpful to reduce the potential of attacks from Iraq in case other incidents occur in Iran after the test-fire and after the US has placed troops in the Czech Republic and upset Russia. If more people get involved in this situation and negative tension hasn’t been reduced, who knows what will happen out of it all.

These are positive news for sure and hopefully accurate for the sake of Iraquis and all deployed troops. I recently heard some comments on the news that stated Iraqui government does not want our presence in their country because they feel things won’t improve considering our already 5 years presence. I thought this was very sad because so many lives have been sacrificed to achieve a stable and terrorist free government in Iraq. How much longer can we sacrifice the lives of Americans for a country that does not appreciate us an an ally or want our help?

I think we could have definitely had a better post war strategy in Iraq as it was rather improvised. However, empowering the legitimate people of Iraw to run their own country is the first sign that although lenghty and costly, the endeavor may result in its original goal. We are far away being able to leave Iraq as it is still rather unstable but it is a good start. It is good that we see an end in sight in Iraq because we need to focus on Afghanistan were the worst attack on troops this week was the worst in over three years.
